After 20+ years in big organisations I decided to take the leap into self-employment to use my big-business expertise to help smaller businesses grow and change.  After all, why should big businesses have it all their way?

As I don't profess to know everything about everything I joined a group of business advisors who operate throughout the UK and have a wide range of expertise ranging from accounting to zooology.

My own background encompasses engineering and technical in both public and private sector, specialising in quality systems, including Six Sigma.

My passion is to see small businesses take that leap up to a more profitable operation.  Big business moves slowly - and getting change to take place is like pushing a rock uphill; small businesses are more agile and dynamic - small things make a huge difference.  And the rewards come quicker!

I love getting involved in sorting out business processes.  I think it's because I'm naturally curious - but some people say I'm just nosy!

What have I done so far?

• Delivered a 38% growth in the first 3 months of 2009 for a retail client.

• Recovered 75% of a company's debt by restructuring their processes and procedures.

• Introduced Six Sigma and ISO9001 into organisations to improve the quality of their delivery.

• FMEA analysis for organisations to ensure that there's a fallback when things go pear-shaped.

• Restructuring organisations to make them lean, mean, productive machines!
